Focus Area Committee
In May 2004, several Hartley residents began work on a major, long-term improvement project for the entire neighborhood, the Hartley Neighborhood Focus Area. The group formed the Focus Area Committee, and have been working with the city's Urban Development Department to identify both short and long term goals and projects that not only make tangible improvements to the neighborhood, but also instill and invigorate pride of place and encourage reinvestment in Hartley Neighborhood.
The Focus Area itself consists of the 33rd Street and R Street corridors through Hartley. The committee identified these areas as the most visible to residents and visitors as they serve as the gateways to Hartley Neighborhood. However, Focus Area projects are not limited only to this area, as shown by the recent neighborhood-wide alley improvement project.
Join us at the Annual Meeting to learn more about the Focus Area effort and to see designs for the most ambitious Focus Area project to date, the R Street Streetscape Project.
